All of my life I've felt weird, out of place, maybe even a misfit No where truly felt like home. I was the techy nerd in a farming family. I'd find a church and temporarily feel at home. I would switch jobs and temporarily feel at home. I would find online communities, and Men's Groups and friend cliques, all being temporary homes.
But I'm here to tell you that all of these temporary homes have lead me to realize that my HOME is simply just being with other Jesus believers.
This morning I grabbed coffee with a guy I've never really met before. Because he was a disciple of Christ, conversation was easy and felt safe. I had the same home feeling being with guys on the last Men's Retreat. I have the same home feeling when our family hangs out with another family that believes in #
jesus. I have the same home feeling when at a Christian rock concert. Each of these experiences point to Jesus being my home.
I don't know if I'll ever call a specific church home again, but I will forever call the Church my home. It's where we understand that our weaknesses and weirdness and brokenness is actually our strengths. You find that no where else.
Luckily, my wife and kids are Jesus believers so my physical home is also my strongest home. They embrace my weird humor and love me even though my brokenness comes out.
I just wanted to share because a lot of us feel like a misfit, but you need to know that there is a home for you. It's likely not in a local church, but it is in the personal relationship with Jesus and being with others that have a personal relationship with Jesus.
